Meriklo wants every person to be able to read about the steam cleaner, choose a color, and buy it, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This statement says what standard we aim for, what we tested, what we know is still short, and how to tell us about a barrier.
The standard we aim for
The target is WCAG 2.2 at level AA, measured against the European standard EN 301 549 for web content.
What was tested, and how
The store is a custom Shopify theme ("Meriklo"). This statement covers that theme; if the storefront is showing a different theme, this statement does not yet apply to it. On 2026-09-14 the theme was tested on a local render of all eleven page templates: home, product, cart, questions and answers, shipping and returns, contact, about, privacy policy, page not found, search, and all products.
- Automated checks with axe-core (WCAG 2.2 AA rules plus best-practice rules) on every template: zero violations.
- Lighthouse accessibility score of 100 on every template, on a phone-sized and a desktop-sized viewport.
- Color contrast: every text and background pair in the theme's palette is checked automatically on every build; the lowest text pair is above the AA minimum.
- Keyboard: a full keyboard walk of the home page from the skip link through the header, the hero, every section and the footer, with no keyboard trap, a visible focus ring at every stop, and no stop on a hidden element. The cart drawer, the mobile menu and the color picker return focus to the control that opened them.
- Motion: with "reduce motion" switched on in the operating system, the hero shows a still image and the page never scrolls itself; the same is true when the browser asks for reduced data or when JavaScript is off. The hero can be passed with the skip link or by scrolling.
- Controls: the color choice is a keyboard-operable radio group; the product turntable and the tick rail are sliders that respond to the arrow, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down keys; the comparison table scrolls sideways on small screens and is reachable by keyboard only while it overflows; the questions accordion supports the arrow, Home and End keys.
- Forms: every field has a visible label; errors are announced and described next to the field; the consent box is unchecked until you tick it.
What we know is still short
- The tests above were run on a local render of the theme, not on the live storefront, because the store was not yet public. We will run them again on the live address after launch and update this page.
- We have not yet completed a manual test with a screen reader (for example NVDA or VoiceOver) across the buying journey. Until that test is done and its result is recorded here, this statement does not claim screen-reader compatibility.
- The checkout pages are provided by Shopify and are outside our theme. Shopify publishes its own accessibility information for them.
- Any instructions that come with the unit are printed paper, which a screen reader cannot read. The safety warnings are reproduced as text on the product safety page.
- If a reviews app is installed in the future, its widget is third-party code. We will test it before switching it on.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this store is hard to use with your device or assistive technology, email support.vapora@gmail.com and describe the page and what happened. A person reads every message and replies by email. We treat an accessibility report the same way we treat a fault report: we fix what we can and tell you what we changed.
The European Accessibility Act
The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) applies to e-commerce services offered to consumers in the European Union from 28 June 2025. Microenterprises that provide services, meaning businesses with fewer than 10 employees and an annual turnover or balance sheet total of no more than EUR 2 million, are exempt from its accessibility requirements (Article 4(5)).
Meriklo is operated by Yahel Dimnik. Today the store ships to the United States only; whether the Act's requirements or its microenterprise exemption apply will be settled before the store sells to consumers in the European Union.
Enforcement and complaints
In the European Union, complaints about the accessibility of an e-commerce service go to the market surveillance authority of the member state where you live. In the United Kingdom, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service. In the United States, web accessibility complaints about a place of public accommodation are dealt with under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Write to us first; most barriers are fixed faster that way.
